Unfortunately, we can't major in a field that is solely dedicated to watching Pixar movies, but some majors are a bit like some of the classic animated films we've grown up with, and continue to enjoy as young adults. Which one are you?
1. Psychology - Inside Out
Inside Out focuses on the mental emotions behind young protagonist, Riley, as she struggles to fit into her new environment after a big move. Psychology majors can easily identify these core emotions and the roles that they play in memory.
2. History - UP
History majors can definitely appreciate Mr. Fredrickson's passion for the historic, fantastic Paradise Falls in South America. He travels great distances and endures quite a hectic adventure through exotic terrains just to reconnect with a place he and his wife once dreamed of.
3. Early Education - Monsters Inc.
Mike and Sulley face quite the young audience in their work as scarers at the infamous Monsters Incorporated factory. They understand just what it takes to scare a child based on their personal fears, emotions, and personality traits. Education majors can connect with this film in its focus on children and just how they may react in the presence of, well, monsters I guess.
4. Biology - A Bug's Life
This is one of Pixar's older films, and not as widely recognized as some of the studio's other hits. This movie follows an ant, Flik, in his quest to gather enough food to allow his colony to survive. Biology majors can appreciate the in depth analysis of plants and insects in their most simple state with this film, as well as take a break from the extensive 3 hour labs they have to look forward to.
5. Culinary Arts - Ratatouille
What movie better highlights the art of cooking than one that features an eccentric, intelligent rat? Culinary majors can definitely resonate with Remy's passion for cooking and his endeavor to pass along his knowledge to struggling chef, Alfredo. I'm sure you could pick up a few tricks from this movie, but I wouldn't know, I got too distracted by the fact that no one questioned the fact that a rat could cook, but that's just me.
Of course, there are countless other majors offered in campuses nationwide. However, although Pixar's been around for quite some time, they have yet to make a movie about doctors or lawyers. I think it might have to do with the fact that kids probably don't like hospitals and the only 'law' they know is the c(law) from Toy Story.
