My best friend and I have both become single months ago, and we both decided to get back out in the dating field. We tried multiple dating apps but most of them were busts. However, right now we both still have our Plenty of Fish accounts. Let me tell you though, we definitely get a lot of weirdos trying to talk to us. Some are weird right off the bat, and some seem cool at the beginning, but then throw some major red flags later on.
First of all, when you first meet someone that you might be interested in down the road, do not and I repeat do not give backhanded compliments. For example, this one guy told me that in my pictures it looks like I did not smile from the heart, and I would be much more beautiful if I did that. Who says that?? Also, this other guy made fun of me because I sent him a picture walking to my car after class and I was wearing my coat and hat. He said that he expected me to wear less clothing or to try to look cute. Really?? Thanks, dude!! I really want to keep talking to you after that!
Also, do not think that you are expected anything, like one night stands or anything. Unlike a lot of people our age, my best friend and I are trying out this app to try to find a relationship with the right person. Obviously, we don't want to settle for anything less than what we deserve. So no, we aren't trying to just talk for a few days, meet up, have a one night stand, then never talk again. So please, do not slide into our DMs if that is all you want. Also, do not message us at 3 AM asking us to come over for a good time (yes, we have had that happen before too).
To finish this off, do not ghost us. If we are talking to you, we probably see something in you and are interested in you. However, if you don't feel the same, that's fine. Just tell us straight up so that we know instead of not replying to a message ever and leaving us wondering what the hell happened.
So there you have it. There's what not to do during the talking stage. Maybe other people are different, but this is how is for us.
All my love,
Kamille
