Sandwiched between two very different and athletic brothers is me. For as long as I could remember, I took pride in being the middle child and the only girl child within my family. My brothers and I very different; my older brother, Dan, is very relaxed and easy-going. My younger brother, Sean, cares about his appearance and his looks. And I try to go with the flow, because someone has to be the normal one in between these boys!
Both of my brothers are talented baseball players. My younger brother plays on the high school baseball team, while my older brother is the coach. The two of them bond over playing catch, hitting in the batting cages, and sharing their knowledge of the sport. I listen, go to every single game, and cheer the two of them on. Even though I could not swing a bat or throw a ball to save my life, I understand the sport and support the two of them in all of their activities.
There is always something to bicker about, from Dan being loud when everyone is trying to sleep or Sean just being annoying, but eventually we all just move on. We, of course, find something else to bicker about, but I am usually the calm medium, the one who sorts the issues out and resolves them.
I find common ground with both Sean and Dan. We all have sports and football in common, but there are some things that I only talk to Sean to and things I only talk to Dan about.
My brothers support me just as much as I support them. They may not be into English as much as me or read the same books I do, but whenever I write, I like sharing my ideas with them. The two sit around and listen, and I’m sure it might be boring, but they do it anyway. We boost each other up because that is what siblings do.
I hope that as we get older that we do not drift apart from each other. I’m sure we’ll always be close and find things to talk about, even in our old age! We’ll always have fun and enjoy each other’s company.
