Psychologists say, that if you have had a friend for seven years or more, the relationship is bound to last forever. I can't say I've had any relationship for that long yet, but I have one friend that I've had for what feels like my whole life. As we almost hit that seven-year mark, it reminded me of how grateful I am for this friend, my best friend forever.
There are so many important people and friends in our lives who play a special role. That best friend we've had forever, though, deserves some sort of award. Having this type of friend is like having another half. If you’ve had a good friend for a long time, you know all the perks of knowing each other so well.
This friend has become a part of you. They become a comfort that feels like home. Without them, we wouldn't feel like ourselves; without them, we'd have a missing piece.
Whether together or apart they are always on our mind. They are the first person we think of when we have something amazing, terrible, or even unimportant to share.
There is never a feeling of awkwardness when you’re with them. You can sit in silence checking up on social media or pee your pants laughing, but either way, you're having a wonderful time. Let's be real, anything you do together is a great time.
You two have been through it all, the good, the great, the devastating, the just kind of okay and everything in-between. It's all worked out, though because you always have each other.
You’ve even been together for so long that you don’t need words to communicate. A simple look can convey your exact thoughts. You basically speak through facial expressions and subtle eye movements.
Not only that but whatever ridiculous thought they have, you have it too. Nothing can embarrass you when you're together because they know you to your core.
Inside jokes are something completely different to you two. You have so many you can relate anything to a memory. You have plenty of those "remember when we... " and you laugh and reminisce about the craziness.
You probably end up matching clothes a lot, too. It’s not even a bad thing, it’s just too typical. That’s what happens when you’re so alike. Most of all, though, people will be surprised when you’re not together. You are two peas in a pod and you wouldn’t have it any other way.
Bottom line: They mean the absolute world to you.
