As rough a year as 2015 was, I learned a lot. I'd like to think about it as a learning experience... a test of strength if you will. I think that I became a much wiser, stronger person. I wanted to share with all of you what I learned, because I think that it could be valuable to your life as well.
1. Always trust your gut -- If you have a bad feeling about something, whether it's the person you're about to go on a date with or a situation you might find your self in, trust your gut.
2. Stand up for what you believe in -- Never every let anyone tell you that you can't do something. Don't ever let anyone say something mean about you or your friends and not let them know that that's not OK. Be true to your self and your morals.
3. Learn to love yourself -- If you don't love yourself, how can anyone else truly love you? If you don't love yourself, how can you truly love others? You are a wonderful, unique, and amazing person, and don't let anyone ever tell you otherwise.
4. Count your blessings -- Even if it seems like everything in the world is going wrong, it's not. It could always be worse, and it's so important to remember what you have to be thankful for.
5. If you need help, seek it -- If you are feeling too depressed or anxious, it is important to go seek therapy or support. Holding in your feelings and pretending you're fine won't help your situation at all, and will only make it worse. If you need counseling or therapy, there is nothing to be ashamed of. And don't ever be afraid to confide in your close friends or family. They love you and want you to be happy.
6. Don't be afraid to take risks -- What is life without a little risk? If you like someone, ask them out! If you want to try something new, do it! You will never know unless you try. "You know, sometimes all you need is 20 seconds of insane courage. Just literally 20 seconds of just embarrassing bravery, and I promise you, something great will come of it" ("We Bought A Zoo").
2016 be good to us.
