Definition: Unable to apply winged eyeliner without taking your eye out, prefers dresses over skirts because skirts are 'too hard', owns exactly zero pink or purple clothing items because you would rather die than wear it, and never wearing heels because you lose your balance in flats.

The amount of shrieking and/or clapping you are required to do in a sorority will amaze you. You don't understand why so much dancing is required of you. When did you give off the impression that you had any sense of rhythm? You will never be able to get over the amount of glitter that has suddenly entered your life. If someone told you that sororities have some kind of discount going on with the creators of glitter, you would believe it. Recruitment workshops will mostly be your recruitment chairs yelling "BE LOUDER" and "JUST ONE MORE TIME" over and over until you wish you were anywhere else but there. In all honesty, 20 percent of you is disgusted by how girly it all is, 30 percent feels like your soul is dying, 50 percent of you wants to scream into one of the many colorful throw pillows that are all over your sorority house, and 100 percent of you totally loves it. You may not always want to go to the rush workshop, but you know it can be enjoyable if you have the right attitude about it.

Big/little reveal is an awkward, cringe-worthy experience for girls like us. You may love your big to pieces now, but you weren't so sure about the whole thing before you met her. If you don't girl well, you're probably not a touchy feely person. You're still getting used to all the hugs and girls randomly crying for no reason. On reveal day you were probably super nervous. You see all the other littles jumping up and down hugging their bigs and something inside you dies. You just can't do the whole tackling your big and telling her how much you love her even though you have never met this person in your life thing. You stand there awkwardly and hope that no one touches you or makes you do a sorority squat in fam pictures. Once the awkward wears off, you will realize your new member director is a genius and paired you with an equally awkward human being, who will still insists on hugging you every time she sees you.

Most of the girls in your chapter cannot wait for formal but for you, it poses a lot of issues. You are expected to bring a date, but you don't feel like entertaining some guy you barely know. You could bring a friend but that could be weird, and you are awkward enough as it is. You can't help but wonder who invented winged eyeliner and why do they hate you so much. You don't know how to contour or even what that word means. How are you supposed to know if you are supposed to use a pale or medium? You are supposed to wear a dress, but you don't own anything fancy enough to wear to a formal, so you borrow something from a friend. That same friend will probably end up doing your hair and makeup too because otherwise, it wasn't happening. You want to wear your Chacos with your dress, but your friend says no.

You'd rather watch Netflix and eat junk food anyway.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
