What Its Like To Be In A Big, Big Family

There's a lot of screaming; there's a lot of lost clothing in another siblings hamper, and there is no shortage of love, and less food on your plate because your brother wants to eat a little off of yours.

Its always been chaotic, because my family is just a small piece of a bigger pie. I have too many cousins, too many to count on my hands, and feet. We spent holidays together, hot summer weekends, and with some of them the same school day. I was 4 when my first sister was born. I cant say I remember to much of being an only child, mostly because my cousins were there in the picture, but enough to remember I got new Barbies out of it. Then it was just me and my sister maddie. We spent a lot of time together just the two of us. Between Barbies, me spraining her wrist by catapoling her into the air, and just enjoying life, just the family of four. Gracie “graced” our lives when I was in the seventh grade, and maddie and I were the furthest thing from happy.

All our siblings were a surprise until they were born. Not Gracie, my grandfather spoiled that one in the hospital parking garage. I guess that’s the happiness effect of getting your 7th grandchild. We grew to be the family of 5, and nothing short of it. Girls ruled that house, and it was just my dad, the dogs who ruled the male spectrum of the house. I love having sisters, the wrestling for bathroom time, the tons of hairspray we all went through during the holidays, and hours in my moms bathroom getting ready for any kind of event. Not to mention the amount of times I have ended up with one of my sisters clothing, and just kept it. (sorry girls) Its been nothing short of exciting… That was until my mom was pregnant again, but this time with twins. 2007 was nothing short of insane, my moms water broke and I just remember sitting up with maddie just thinking what on earth could be waiting for us at the hospital.. two more sisters? A brother and a sister? Either way we were all hoping there was another girl in the mix, and boy were we wrong. On July 29th 2007 we were introduced to our twin brothers Scotty and Dominick. We grew to a family of 7 faster than a blink of an eye. Our Barbies and dolls moved to the basement, and the trucks and trains moved in. I spent ours chasing naked boys in my backyard, and trying to convince them that rain boots weren’t every day shoes.

A family of seven was nothing short of exciting and exhausting in the same bit, I can only imagine what its like for my parents, but I love being in a pack of 7, for now. I am so blessed to have grown up in a large, loud and fun family. All the support in the world is behind me in everything I do, and I have built in best friends. Holidays were extra special, and extra loud. Vacations were nothing short of the same, on top of family members and bags, you just sometimes aren't sure when it all ends! Once things almost felt like it was comfortable, things changed and our family grew again, but a branch from my family tree grew a stem. I had my son Leo, my parents first grandchild in 2015, and from there on out the family of 8 got that more exciting. Toy explosions, Disney channel really was never turned off, and well it got even louder. Between my brothers youtube videos, and my sons musical toys, ontop of my youngest sisters tap dancing in our exercise room, my dads drumming, my other sister rewatching all her childhood tv shows, and my mom not only chasing after my brothers, but the washing machine going, and her opening the doors to go water her plants, and me and all my noise. Our house was jam backed to the brim, and nothing short of exciting once again, but one can never get comfortable around our house! My siblings and I moving on to our next phases of life, myself moving into my own home, my sister Gracie is now dating which is totally mind blowing and my sister madalyn is engaged! I am so excited for her, and the fact that our family will grow again.

It’s a blessing to come from a big family, and to be apart of a legacy. Who knows where we will be in the next year, let alone too, but im strapped in and ready for the ride!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
