People. That's all you see in the Pit. Tall, short, large tiny. Guys that make my 5'8" sister feel timid. Everyone's talking, some smoking vapes, some drinking either water or beer. The stage infront is split into two, speakers creating a median. The stages are set and you can feel all the energy around.
The pit is like no other at Van's Warped Tour. While everywhere else has people moving and on different missions, the pit is where everyone is still till the bass moves through your body. You get the feeling of moving even when standing still. You're heart seems to vibrate with the down beats.
Then there's the people. The people scream and yell and sing off key. They jump and throw their hands up, clap to the beat with the singer. They create a circle and mosh like it's their only job. People move other people above the crowd, falling and rising again. Everyone so relaxed, so full of life.
The band looks at peace, happy. They hold their instruments and play their hearts out. Their life spent on cramped buses and in hotel rooms to play one show a day for a couple months. Their dreams being lived out every day. They see the faces in the pit and know that what they do makes a difference. Every note hits someone, somewhere, in their very soul.
The pit is loud and sometimes angry, but it's where the best memories are made. You make friends with people around you and even take care of people when they need help. For that band, for that song, for that riff, you and everyone else around you are hearing and seeing the same things. You all know that this will be in your memory for a long time. And that's the reason to be in the pit.
