13 All Too Real Truths Of Being The Youngest Child

The youngest child. The last born. The baby. Maybe you were even an "accident" or a "mistake." Whatever you call it, being the youngest of the family has its ups and downs.

Your parents have called you by the wrong name.

Sometimes they call me my siblings' names more than my own. It gets real awkward when they call me my brother's name.

You don't have a baby book.

Since you're the last born, your parents probably got bored of making baby books after the first kid.

You were/are spoiled.

Being the baby of the family probably means that you are spoiled and everyone knows it. Your parents just do not want you to grow up and your older siblings are totally jealous.

You learned from your siblings' mistakes.

They showed you exactly what not to do. Which is perfect because now you know how to impress your parents.

Your siblings always had your back.

No matter what, your older siblings are always there to stand up for you and protect you.

Even though they had your back, they still picked on you.

You were probably an easy target because, let's be honest, nothing scares you more than your older sibling.

Teachers recognized you by your last name.

"Are you her little sister?" Yes, but please don't tell me how much you loved her.

Bringing home a significant other was awkward.

You would think it would be your parents who you're most scared to introduce your boyfriend/girlfriend to, but older siblings are way more judgmental and want to know everything about the new person in your life.

Your older siblings were way too over-protective.

No one or nothing was ever good enough. They do not want you to make the same mistakes they did.

You always blamed things on your siblings, and you most likely got away with it.

You seemed innocent compared to your older siblings, so you never got blamed for things.

You always believed your older siblings.

More than likely you were gullible and an easy target for jokes and lies. "You were adopted" is probably the biggest, yet most-believed lie.

Your babysitter was always your older sibling.

Good for your parents, bad for you — because once you were alone with them, it was a whole different story.

"You're too young to understand" was something you heard way too often.

Not being able to listen to a conversation between your parents and siblings was the worst thing because you always wanted to know what was going on.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
