Big news for Top Dawg Entertainment fans: A new project is on the way.
Last Friday night the TDE (Top Dawg Entertainment) Instagram page posted a new story that said "9.2.16." This could only mean that a new album is on the way but the question is, who's could it be?
TDE is a hip hop label that was established in Southern California and was created and run by Anthony "Top Dawg" Tiffith. This label is known for having some of the biggest names in hip hop with artists like Kendrick Lamar and ScHoolboy Q leading the camp. What makes TDE such a great label is the fact that they take their time with every project that is put out. Top Dawg is huge on making sure each and every artist gets the shine they deserve so it is common that each album that is released is spread out fairly. However, this year is different. We have already seen TDE release 2 projects with even more on the way. But who's up next? it seemed that Ab-Soul would be dropping his project next with several hints being dropped, specifically in the "THat Part" Black Hippy remix. ScHoolboy Q says in his verse, "heard Soulo comin up next," and everyone who is a fan of TDE knows that Soulo is a common nickname for Ab-Soul.
This past week Isaiah Rashad, who is also signed to TDE and has only released one album with the label, announced a new single called, "Free Lunch." This could only mean one thing: His new album is coming sooner than expected. The young rapper out of Chattanooga, Tennessee is ready to take on the shine that he so rightfully deserves. His debut album, "Cilvia Demo," was not very popular among average hip hop fans, but it was a very solid debut project. He showed that he has potential to be one of the bigger names in the game. Since the release of this project, he was an XXL Freshman and he was featured on different albums, including fellow label mate Jay Rock's 2015 release, 90059. With all of this recent success, it seems there is only one way for the young rapper to go, and that is up. "Free Lunch" is only one of the singles he has released in the past year. He has also dropped "Nelly" and "Smile," which could be seen on the new album's track list.
Since we know who is up next now, is it too soon to be asking when Ab-Soul is ready? The artist was last seen with his album "These Days..." and was not very well received. Many fans were left disappointed after the release of this project so the community is ready to see if he can redeem himself with this new album, which is scheduled to be released sometime in 2016.
Nonetheless, this new project from Isaiah Rashad has potential to be one of the top albums of the year. This release is scheduled for September 2, 2016, so make sure you get your copy!
