You may ask, what is earworm? Well, the earworm is that piece of the song that gets stuck in your head and keeps playing even though the song isn't around or playing what so' ever. For example, do you recall a time when you and your friend were in the car or you were just at home and a song came on and you can not control yourself from singing that one verse! That, my friends, is the earworm.
The condition is very contagious when a song has an amazing beat, and really makes you sing along. Not only can the song have a great beat, it can also have a catchy verse. Upon interviewing some of my friends and other students, here is some earworm bate.
As you are reading the lines below, try not to sing or mumble the beat or verse! Good luck and don't let that little earworm get yah!
1." He's so tall, and handsome as......" (Wildest dreams by Taylor Swift)
2."So it's gonna be forever, or it's gonna burn down in......" (Blank space by Taylor Swift)
3."Haters are gonna hate hate hate, but I......." (Shake it off by Taylor Swift)
4." I'm a single lady, I'm a single....." (Single Ladies by Beyoncé)
5." I'm a Barbie girl, in a Barbie....." (Barbie Girl by Aqua)
6."Tick Tock on the....." (Tick Tock by Ke$ha)
7. "Hello, it's me....." (Hello by Adele)
8."We all need someone to lean on....." (Major Lazer ft MO)
9."Is it too late to say I'm sorry....." (Justin Bieber)
10." Op op oppa Gangnam style" (Gangnam Style by PSY)
11." It's Friday, It's Friday" ( Friday by Rebecca Black)
12." Fergalicious......" (Fergalicious by Fergie)
These songs are very well known by a lot of people. These catchy songs broke numerous records in the United States and other countries for being popular. The catchy verses play over and over in people's heads and this is how it usually happens. It is not easy for people to get away from the earworm for the simple fact that the catchiness of the song will end up inside your head for a while. I can't really say there is a remedy since there is always that one song that you start singing to, or a specific song that you want to hear or sing. Don't confuse the earworm as a virus or an infection, think of it as a repeat button of a specific song that you like.
