January is a very exciting month. You may be thinking, why? There isn't a major holiday, it's winter, so it's pretty cold, and all the snow seems to pop up, at least if you live in Michigan.
On the other hand, the school has started for the winter semester, and the most exciting thing was applications were released for the Disney College Program.
The Disney College Program is a chance to gain valuable, on-the-job experience working in our parks and resorts, participate in college coursework, and have the opportunity to meet and live with people from all over the country and potentially the world in company-sponsored housing. This truly unique five-to-seven-month program allows participants to network with leaders, take part in personal and career development classes, and build transferable skills such as problem-solving, teamwork, guest service, and effective communication.
So basically, working at ether Disney World or Disney Land and getting the chance to learn and earn college credit while you work at the parks and resorts.
So when you apply, they let you know that you should hear back by April. This year, it is April 13th. So I applied on January 23rd, and applications were released on the 22nd, so I did it early. With so many applicants, they review them in waves. So far there have been two waves.
I describe this waiting game like the Hunger Games, but we want to be chosen. Every time we get an email, it's like Russian Roulette, praying you don't open that email and get the "No Longer In Consideration."
I know for an internship I shouldn't be so nervous. This is just the opportunity of a lifetime to work for one of the biggest companies in the world. I just want a chance for a life-changing opportunity.
