What is art? this is art.

Art can be found in everything, natural or manmade. But, what is the true nature of art, and how does it change based on how it's used?

Expression is found within us but given outwardly. Our passion to show, to create, and to explore new mediums derives farther back than has even been discovered. Humans build their imaginations by invading their own domains in search for reason. The gliding of a toothbrush along an unwashed mouth, maneuvering through a crowd of people, or the style of an updo worn on that special occasion takes precision and determination to achieve a vision. Though some smooth-moved hands can remove jenga blocks from the tower with eyes closed or basically breathe out emotion onto a canvas with no hesitation is pure ammunition with no direction. Some forms of Art can be found on walls or just be the walls. If Art stems from the noggin, then Art is not only the brain itself, but also found inside.

There are different forms, patterns, and ways to express the complexity of such a short, three-lettered word. It can be found in our skin, held in our palms, or by using the fingers that allow us to create. The expression can or cannot be pure, organic, or natural. Some of the most familiar works were formulas of dictation, as some can't find their core without guidance or inspiration. Though we live inside the casings of our beings, wearing casings that not only express, make us hot, or keep us warm, but also form as stencils for the sun so that our skins become the canvases of our surroundings. This is all Art.

It's sometimes difficult to channel something deep inside, like catching a big fish at the bottom of a lake. Sitting for hours at the edge of the dock as if something is at the tip of your tongue so you trace every neuropathway just to catch a glimpse of recognition that becomes the squiggle on paper. The most profound intelligence comes from the ability to read the unique map of the mind instead of getting lost in a system, like a train with no means to be found. So the refusal of understanding the depths of you are subsidized by the amount of likes you've gotten on a photograph showing the amount of people that feel they've gotten to know your heart when even you haven't, all through a small glowing rectangle. From confusion, to photography, or social media, and technology: this is all Art.

Whether the creator is lost on a journey for knowledge or has completely realized the direction of their creations, manmade art can be just as dangerous as a volcano, erupting to cover nature with destruction, or in this case, really hot rocks. There is some organic beauty in an uncovered face of makeup, the harmonies between instrument and player, or a serene creator of Art. As the elegance of truth is demonstrated through the movement of a tender ballerina or the powerful stomps of Flamenco, the passion is seen and felt either by intention or merely coincidence. The designer of truth is the artist.

What the artist feels and shows can be very contrary to each belief, while being either effected or unchanged. The art that makes one feel tame and at ease with oneself shows courage with such confidence, like feeling free enough to bop to heavy beats or find meaning within the lyrics of a song made well before your time. Art can induce self reflection or peak curiosity and question the inner mechanisms of its origins. The connection of can be related or arribitary; nonetheless, this is Art.

As the need for food and shelter are put to your own confident hands, the skills once that oozed out of your pores are now used to pay bills. The week-long excursion isn't funded by anyone else, though the art of pickpocketing must be practiced just as much as any other. Once the arts become your means of living, the meanings are limited to the guidelines of the superior. The Art becomes a product of another's visions and decisions. The free-flowing rivers are out of your hands and into those with money as their number one concern. Money constraints capabilities by prohibiting the freedom of pure expression, leaving unsold paintings, unreleased music, jaded public speeches, and a misconstrued audience.

I find that the Art made is by the energy put into it. If energy is just energy, then the art is just the art. But once the energy is made into money, the art becomes the profit. I take my hat off to those who sustain their essence and continue to live leisurely because it seems that recently, suicide follows the glory. The differences in Art are not black and white since it encloses everything. How Art is created is not good or bad since it means everything.

And this too, is Art.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
