It's almost Thanksgiving Break, and I'm feeling reflective. After spending a semester abroad, I see all the aspects of Nova that I didn't appreciate so much my first semester here. This is really my home away from home, and a lot of people and things have made that happen.

Keep reading to see all my favorite parts of campus that I'm grateful for.

*Note: this isn't all of it! It's just all that I'm thinking of at the moment.

1. "South-West" campus

This ones for my not one, not two, but THREE roommates in our lounge room out here in Delurey. We've made it our own little home. :)

2. The new bridge

This makes walking to the Spit for Friday night dinner or the KOP shuttle so much easier. Not to mention, I'm grateful for the awesome view of the church on the way back.

3. Easy going teachers

Thank you for not being angry at me for coming in late to my 8:30. Thank you for being funny, and thank you for not making my college life hard.

4. VSB Perks

Thank you Clay Center. Thank you Bartley Holy Grounds. Thank you Exchange staff. Thank you print center. Thank you business professors. We business kids really have the best support, and I appreciate it beyond words.

5. Hilarious Nova Insta accounts

This one's for you @justbartleythings and @soldmysoultothepit. These are hilarious, and if you don't follow them already, you definitely should.

6. Canceled classes from snow

This just happened, but thank you for not making me walk through the blizzard to my Diff Eq class all the way in Mendel on Thursday night.

7. Camp Co

How could anyone live without Camp Co?! Grateful for the classic 2am Friday nights here.

8. Holy Grounds

Thank you for the yum oatmeal. Thank you for making my dirty iced chai just the way I like.

9. Cova

Grateful for the burrito bowls and awesome pizza and the staff that gets it done after those 12:20 classes Monday, Wednesday, Friday.

10. Special Olympics

Nothing like a great fall weekend of volunteering to make my heart full.

11. Conn Grilled Cheese

Thank you for the soup and grilled cheese because they're unbelievably good.

12. BasketballĀ

Finally, how could I put this list together without Nova basketball?! Grateful for the amazing energy and pride that bball season brings to campus and so much more.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
