When I meet you, it will be with my whole heart.
I’ve heard your voice from over the river. The ripples and stones make it echo like hope and I hear you just over the din. When I meet you
I will have already walked miles to be there. My heart will be full — as it has been — I will feel every stone I’ve turned over. When I meet you
my hands will be empty. I will have given out all that I’ve had to get you here. I will have used every ounce of my strength. When I meet you
I will be weak like you are.
I will be strong, like you are
but exhausted.
When I meet you it will be with my whole heart.
You will extend your hand to me, and I will have barely the strength to lift mine to you
a gesture of hope that you will take it.
Do you take fingers reflexively or is it a choice you make on purpose?
When I meet you, it will be with my whole heart.
