This week Sarah Palin announced that she would be endorsing Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. While watching this press conference unfold, all I could think was what happened to Sarah Palin? She left the spotlight almost eight years ago after her unsuccessful attempt to run for vice president. After her fall, she quickly faded from news headlines and "Saturday Night Live" skits. So where has she been the past eight years? Other members of her family, including daughter Bristol Palin, have came in and out of the spotlight the past eight years, but what happened to the mother?
Well, Sarah Palin has been very busy with her own TV show, a best selling book, and so much more. After the 2008 election, Palin packed up her things and moved back out to Alaska where she began on her book "Going Rogue: An American Life." This memoir was written about Palin's both political and private life in Alaska. This also included her resignation as Alaska's governor. Within a year her book was a best selling novel, and she appeared on talk shows to endorse her book.
During that time, Palin began SarahPAC which focused on renewable energy and how tapping in our countries resources then buying oil over seas. In October of 2010, personal files including Palin's credit card information was hacked into and threated to be released to the public. It is believed that the group Anonymous did this as part of their Operation payback.
In 2010, the pilot of her show "Sarah Palin's Alaska" had over 5 million views, breaking the TLC record. This show only ran to be nine episodes long and was created to show the beauty of Alaska according to Palin. During the episodes Palin spends time with her family, and shows off Alaska's beauty by climbing mountains, camping, and fishing in Alaska.
By the end of 2010, Palin was a analysis on Fox News Channel and a major part of the Tea Party movement which criticized the health care reform and President Obama's "war on terror." She also help endorsed Republican governor candidates in her home state of Alaska.
Sarah Palin has been very busy over the past eight years, and now I look at how she has stayed just out of the headlines in both her political and personal life since 2010. She could make endorsing Republican candidate Donald Trump something that she would do. I could see Trump even asking her to have her run for vice president along side him to soften his hard image and give him guidance during his run for president. So Sarah Palin has been very busy over the past few years, but now the question is will she run for vice president?
