Big little week and lineages are, in my opinion, the highlight of being in a sorority. As a big, it’s the most chaotic/fun/stressful week ever, full of crafting and scheming to create the most memorable week of your little’s sorority life. As a little, it’s the most nerve wracking/crazy/fun week ever; there’s nothing better than being constantly showered with gifts for a week straight by someone you don’t even know, but is already obsessed with you.
But what happens when you’re not the big or the little anymore?
I’m not going to say that being a grandbig is as stressful as being a big (cause there is nothing more stressful than that), but it’s still pretty stressful. After a year you’ve become accustomed to your lineage at the size that it currently is. You have your traditions and weekly lunches and you know WAY too much about these girls that have become your family inside your family. All of a sudden you are getting a new addition that you’re not choosing yourself.
You start to coach your little, gradually giving hints as to how you found them and how your big found you, dropping tips on the best spots to take your future little and how to woo the little of their dreams. You want to sit back and let them take charge, but you can’t help chiming in with your own ideas and opinions throughout the new member period.
As much as you love and trust your little you’ve been watching the new pledge class as closely as her, looking for the perfect girl to join your lin and you can only hope that you both have your eye on the same new member. You basically become a stereotypical Jewish mother; anxiously watching her go on countless girl dates and hoping that at the end of each one that she has met the one. On and on you go through the new member period watching and waiting and hoping that whoever the chosen one is will mesh flawlessly with your lin. At the same time you also know that anyone your perfect little picks will obviously be perfect as well.
