1. Pursue your dreams with all you have.
Elle Woods knew what she wanted -- Warner. She was in love and would do everything she could to win him back. Going to Harvard Law School was what she would have to do to prove herself and win back the love of her life. Her friends, parents, and teachers doubted her but it didn't stop her from pursuing her dreams.
2. Look for the good in all people.
While not all of us can be the vibrant pink optimist that Elle is, we can chose to believe that there is good in all people. Elle never discriminated or preconceived notions about people before getting to know them. Nor was she intimidated by people who were better than her in some areas. Rather Elle celebrated the good in each and every person.
3. Be true to yourself.
Although Elle revamped her wardrobe before attending Harvard Law, she never lost sight of who she was. Not many of us have the confidence that she does to be unashamedly yourself even in a set of circumstances in which you stick out.
4. Don't let anyone tell you you can't do something
Elle faced failure, but persevered. People told her to quit, degrading her dream to impossible, but it never stopped her. If anything these remarks fueled her to do it for herself.
5. Never mistreat others even when they mistreat you.
After arriving at Harvard where she no doubt stood out, Elle was mistreated by many people. They mocked her for her outer appearance and personality. Her classmates saw her as a joke and made that no secret. Rather than lashing out or retreating, Elle pushed on. She continued to be kind to those who ridiculed her for who she was.
6. But always advocate for yourself.
Although Elle was characteristically kind to everyone, she knew when it was time to speak up for herself and had no problem doing so.
7. Forgive easily.
Despite being mistreated, Elle forgave. She believed in second chances. Forgiveness takes humility. We have to swallow our own pride which, at times, can be very difficult to do.
8. Be kind to everyone, be open to everyone.
Elle Woods welcomes each and every person she meets with a warm smile and openness. That's something we could use more of today. Elle never looked at the surface to determine whether or not someone was worthy of her friendship. She treated everyone as equal and had very special friendships as a result. Let's view the world like Elle does.
