Every October, I am always reminded of how strong my mom is.
With it being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I am always faced with a moment of reflection on the time when she told my sisters and I that she had been diagnosed with stage zero breast cancer. Although it was a curable kind of breast cancer, I still cried and worried, as any daughter would do.
Although years have passed since my mom was deemed as "cancer free", I still feel the need to honor what she went through. Breast Cancer Awareness Month holds significance through the fact that my mom, like all other women that have or have had breast cancer, is a fighter.
Specifically during this October, I was inspired by a Lokai Bracelet that I saw my roommate, Emily, wearing. I immediately purchased it knowing that I could wear it with a purpose, honoring what my mom and what other women so commonly go through. In this case, I believe that the purchasing of a simply bracelet has so much significance through what it represents.
Under the description of the bracelet, the creator wrote that it is "like a ribbon on your wrist". In addition, $1 of every purchase will be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. I wear my Breast Cancer Lokai Bracelet for my mom. I hope that someday, a cure will be found.
