Freshman year as told by a rising sophomore.

What Actually Happens During Freshman Year
Leah Andrews

With my freshman year behind me and my days as a sophomore quickly approaching, I have already started dreaming about what it will be like to live in my sorority house, having my boyfriend at the same school as me, and not being "the newbies" of the class food chain. Nothing ever comes as you expected it to, and college has it's fair share of curve balls. I hope this gives you incoming freshman a btter look into what will happen (good and bad) to your life in the upcoming year.

1. The second your parents drive off (just kidding, mom).

2. When you show up for class on the first day and find out that attendance is not mandatory.

3. When you forgot to check your email because you woke up late for your 8 a.m.

After putting the track team to shame by how fast you got across campus, you walked into an empty room... Class had been canceled for the day.

4. And when you were SO excited for that all-you-can eat buffet dining hall...

5. But after a month you realize they have the same thing every day and you're sick of it all.

6. So then going home to eat meals cooked by your mom becomes the most amazing experience of your life.

7. When you are trying to study for six exams at once...

8. How you feel when you FINALLY ace a test...

9. But you fail one you thought you passed...

10. When you stay in but the people who went out wake you up as they stumble into their rooms surrounding yours.

11. As you lay in bed, all you can think about is how excited you are to come back to it after class.

12. No, really... Your bed becomes your best friend.

Sometimes you wonder if you've turned into a day time sleeping beauty.

13. Because night time is for studying and writing papers...

It makes perfect sense to sleep all day and do work all night, right?

14. When high school kids are walking through campus with their families on a tour and they are all decked out in T-shirts from your school (but hey, we all have to do it... It's a right of passage).

15. Trying to find the easiest way possible to earn money (hitting up care.com almost daily).

16. When your parents send you money.

17. So now you have $20 and you feel like the richest person on the planet.

18. Driving home for summer break and knowing you don't have to do school work for almost four months.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
