Throughout the years, there has been many odd movies that have made it onto the big screen and onto the Netflix catalog, but there have been a select few that have really raised the question, “Why did they make this?"
1. Rubber (2010)
Surprisingly this movie is not a sexual innuendo, but rather it’s a movie about, “A homicidal car tire, discovering it has destructive psionic power, sets its sights on a desert town once a mysterious woman becomes its obsession.” Robert, the tire, sets out on an adventure to find his mystery love interest and kills around 10 people along the way with his telepathic powers. If that doesn’t scare you, I don’t know what will.
While my friend and I couldn’t stop laughing throughout, it also managed to weird us out. For some reason the movie critics in us look deeper and found weird metaphors and life theories throughout. Because it is currently on Netflix, I recommend everyone watching it with friends, just so that this “horror, fantasy” film can liven up your day. Remember, Robert is a little tire with big dreams and so are you.
2. Sausage Party (2016)
So this newly released movie did not seem as weird as I originally thought. When I first saw the preview I thought it was strange, talking grocery items can often cause some confusion, but the movie itself was not only awful, it was a new level of strange.
Between the human use of bath salts and sexually frustrated, racist food items, there was no moment in the theater where I wasn’t uncomfortable or confused. I don’t suggest anyone really watch it, but I understand the blind curiosity.
3. Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead (2006)
Zombified chickens attempt to kill the fast-food workers that cook them in a restaurant built on an ancient burial ground. Sound weird enough?
Funny enough when you search this on Youtube the trailer for Sausage Party shows up.
4. In Your Eyes (2014)
Now this is another movie, where I thought, “This can’t be good.” Shockingly, I actually enjoyed this movie. Yes, it was quite strange, mainly because of the far fetched idea that someone else can see through your own eyes, but it was a cute strange movie.
It’s probably the romantic in me that liked this movie on Netflix, but this time, the weirdness of it should be overlooked.
While all of these movies have their odd qualities, they all are quite entertaining. In reality, how many times will you get to experience a homicidal car tire or crazy groceries.
