Making food in dorms is just plain difficult. You have the basic ramen (every college kids go-to), and you also have soup, sandwiches and, of course, those little microwavable cups of macaroni and cheese. It’s very rare you find something you actually enjoy and is nutritional. In addition, dining hall food gets very old very fast and no one can afford to eat out every day. There are some pretty weird food combinations out there, like ketchup on eggs and pineapple on pizza, but have you really lived if you haven’t experimented with food in your dorm? If you’re yearning for something new and adventurous (not saying they’ll be any good), how about these recipes?
1. Vodka Doughnut
It really doesn’t have to be a donut— it can be any pastry. You get yourself a bowl, and then place your pastry inside and pour your favorite alcoholic beverage on top and pop it in the freezer for 4-6 hours. It sounds a little weird but actually isn't that bad.
2. Creamy Honey Nut Cheerios
It sounds a bit annoying to dip every single Cheerio in some cream cheese, but definitely worth the struggle. It’s a good snack, breakfast or possibly only meal of the day.
3. Peanut Butter Hot Noodles
It kinda gives you a Thai feel when you enjoy this oddly combined meal. The easiest way I’ve found to create this meal is filling up that Keurig, making some ramen noodles with no powder flavoring, putting some peanut butter on top, and drizzling some tabasco or sriracha from the dining hall. Sounds scary, but desperate times call for desperate measures. (But for real, not that bad.)
4. Red Wine Slushies and Spaghettios
With everyone on these smoothie trends these, it can’t be that hard to find someone with a bullet or fruit ninja blender. Grab some red wine, ice and then blend. The cool red wine tastes great with some (hot or not) Spaghettios straight from the can. The only problem is that you’ll have to invest in a can opener.
