At the end of the day your wedding is about you and your spouse uniting at one in marriage. And no matter what happens that will ultimately rule out all of the mishaps.

Personally I thought I would be an exception to the realization that something would go wrong. I just knew everything would work out perfectly.

That is until a week out when we found out that rain was in the forecast. I'm not talking about just a light drizzle here or there either, but the rain they talk about when they say, "it's raining cats and dogs." Yeah, that rain.

However, I tried to not stress as there was nothing that I could do to change that. Worrying wouldn't solve that issue. I had a perfectly good venue to hold my ceremony inside as well as the reception.

All I had to do was work out a few kinks and details.

June 3rd, 2017, my wedding day, it was in fact raining cats and dogs and multiple things went wrong.

Shout out to my husband though because he continuously reminded me how rain on a wedding day is good luck.

Let me just give you a brief list of my mishaps quickly:

My hairstylist/wedding coordinator broke her ribs before the wedding and couldn't be much help. The day of the rehearsal we had to ask a newer family friend to step in and quickly catch her up.

The wedding party and I ended up in a rush to get ready that we were unable to be at the wedding venue on time and our photographer had been waiting for us.

When I pulled up to the venue (I am assuming the traffic directors were unaware that I was the bride) I was forced to park where everyone else did, resulting in me having to run in the rain into the barn.

At the same time that I pulled up to the venue, so did my soon-to-be-husband causing me to panic and hide from him while also dodging the rain.

My mother drove into a ditch causing her to get stuck, and as she got out of her vehicle she stepped on a snake. She had my dress and the rings—two important details for my pictures.

These are only five things of the many that didn't go exactly as we planned it. It was so stressful, but when I saw my new husband every mishap that happened didn't even matter.

In the grand scheme of things, it wasn't a big deal.

My mother and I spent months planning the wedding of my dreams. Months assuming that it would be perfect from the moment I opened my eyes until the moment that I closed them that night. She worked so hard ensuring that I would be happy and that nothing would go wrong.

And on the day of my wedding no matter what happened I truly was determined to be grateful and full of joy knowing that after the night ended I would gain a husband and whole new family.

None of what happens matters now. While there are a few things I would in fact change and do differently, marrying him is not one of them.

I chose to marry him through everything even on a semi-stressful wedding day full of mishaps and awful weather.

God made us for each other and no matter what happened I knew that at the end of the day we would be married and beginning our lives together which Christ had put together.

None of our wedding guests', full of family and friends, realized that anything went wrong hours before and that's super important to understand.

They traveled to celebrate our day with us and that brought us so much joy.

We ate, danced, and celebrated the night away with our biggest supporters and encouragers.

Nothing else truly mattered because it was a day to remember, cherish, and forever look back on and laugh about.

It was also a day that the Lord had made and it will always be something to rejoice about.

I know we ladies dream of our perfect days, but truthfully I want you to know that in the end the perfection of it isn't what matters. The love and joy that fill the air on your big day is.
