This has to be one of the stupidest sayings I have ever heard. But it translates to so much more than just XL t-shirts and shorts.
Haven't we learned that judging people on their appearance doesn't work?
By judging someone, you're adhering to the cliches your television set taught you, or the stereotypes the people on your street believe. Think for yourself! You're being a follower otherwise. Get to actually know someone before you begin to judge them.
Immediately dismissing something or someone you may not necessarily understand limits your experiences in this world. In the United States specifically, we are surrounded by many, many cultures and ideas that receive hate just because they are different, or misunderstood. And this comes from all angles, and all communities.
If everyone could just open their mind, and stop trying to make people conform to their own personal standards, this country would be a much happier place. Why would ever even want to be in a world where everyone is the same? You would learn nothing, and everything we be so mundane.
This isn't to say that it's wrong to enjoy the company of people who are similar to you, but it is wrong to hate someone simply because they are different.
