As a child my favorite class was art. It was the time during the whole day that I would look forward to. I got to be creative and it was something that I could not get wrong. I was not extremely talented at drawing but I was good at it. I was always really proud of my straight lines. I would literally just draw lines and then create cubes. So imagine my surprise when I got to high school and could not draw a straight line on my eyelid. My friend had convinced me to buy a gel eyeliner. And then showed me how to put it on. I confidently proceeded to apply it the way she showed me. But the line was not straight, it was all over the place. Here are seven reasons as to why I do not wear eyeliner.
1. It is hard to apply
Eyeliner is too hard to apply. There so many ways to apply it. Do you start from the middle or go with the wings first? It is so confusing. And when I do manage to somehow to draw a line on my lids, they come out looking like distant cousins and not sisters at all.
2. Wings are too complicated
How do people draw wings? It is so complicated. My wings do not look like wings. They look like a baby trying to scribble on a page. People have advised me to use tape or a card to make the wings. However, I am not convinced. It just ruins my foundation or makes my skin red.
3. My eyes are too small
My eyes are really small. When I apply eyeliner, I try to make it really thin (although I always wind up taking it off) because I don't want my eyelids to seem crowded especially when I apply eye shadow.
4. Sometimes it is too much for me
Because I have a baby face, eyeliner makes me look like one of those kids from Toddler and Tiaras (okay, maybe I am exaggerating a little). It just feels too much for me for an everyday look.
5. It only looks good in my mirror
I went through this time that I thought I applied eyeliner okay. However, I stopped when someone said my eyes look droopy (sigh).
6. Concealer and makeup remover is always needed for correction
When I used to practice applying eyeliner, I would go through so many cotton swabs filled with makeup remover. I think I used half a container of cotton swabs. I think concealer was better but I still could not pull it off.
7. It is a nightmare if you sneeze or blink
If you sneeze or blink really hard while your eyeliner is still wet, then you are in deep trouble. It will get everywhere
So I have stopped applying eyeliner. It does not look good on me, and it is too much hard work. If you put on eyeliner every day, you are a true hero in my heart. And I will leave you with this:
