This week I was scrolling through Facebook and saw the daily flood of pointless posts. These pointless posts that contribute absolutely nothing to the user's life, or any of their Facebook friends.
Then, I came across this video... and it kind of made me think.
Isn't it incredible how much time we spend doing things utterly meaningless?
After I watched this video, I began to ponder about all the things many of us do, and don't do that we shouldn't or should be doing.
For example, why do we spend so much time on Facebook instead of using every precious moment we have in this world to do something that benefits us?
Why are we so concerned about getting that perfect Instagram photo, instead of enjoying the people and places around us?
Here are a few things we should make an effort to do in the short and valuable time we have left:
1. Exercise!
Just get up and do it! A healthy lifestyle leads to a healthy mind and a better outlook on life. Consistent exercise can create longevity, and release natural endorphins so you can enjoy each day!
2. Say yes to going out, even when you want to stay in.
Looking back on your life when you only have a handful of jelly beans left, you're not going to want to be thinking about all the things you should have done, and in the end didn't. What about all the people you could have met that could have become your future best friend or even soulmate? So even when Netflix binges sound more appealing than late nights with your friends or family, find the urge to just go out.
3. Live on the edge.
Don't stay cooped up in your hermit shell. Do something adventurous: skydive, skinny dip, break into an abandoned building with all your bff's and throw a party. Do something to boost that adrenaline, and stay exciting.
and finally...
4. Educate yourself.
Read a book, travel, actually pay attention in your lectures. Learn something that can help you help make a difference in your life, or the lives of those around you. We're only here for a short amount of time, leave your mark everywhere you can by being an active member of society, and making some type of difference.
I know much of this is redundant, and we've heard it all before, "live everyday like it's your last," but really, do it. We never know how many JellyBeans we actually have left, and each one is precious, so do things that matter and enjoy yourself.
