First off, let me just say that I love my country. I am proud to be an American and I will stand with my country no matter the opposition. I believe in “One Nation Under God” and I unashamedly wave the Red, White, and Blue. So, I’ll be the first to admit that something has got to give.

Americans have become the biggest bunch of crybabies this side of the Atlantic. We have been blessed with an incredibly unique country in terms of our liberties, freedoms, and protections, but we are ungrateful to the point of losing it all.

The Façade Of Taking A Stance.

We Americans are the masters of contradictions. The proof of this lies in the actions of our politicians’. The one who once stood on certain policies now condemns them because of popular opinion and personal advancement. What we believe in is too often determined by current fads or social and political bandwagons.

We say we want freedom, but we limit the freedoms of our fellow countrymen. We make laws to protect the delicate feelings of certain people groups, while completely disregarding the positions of others. One persons freedom should not limit the rights of another.

One Nation Of Over-Sensitivity.

Here lies another issue, personal “rights.” We are constantly bombarded by people who want their rights. “I want this!” “I’m entitled to that!” “You owe me this!” Excuse me, but you do not deserve to be handed anything. You want free college? I’m sorry, but there’s no such thing. Somewhere, someone will be paying for your liberal arts degree while you complain about how oppressed you are. Plus, if you want the type of education that free schooling will provide you, then go back to high school, because common core is as good as it gets.

Ouch!

The truth hurts, but when it comes to protecting the future of an entire nation, hurt feelings should be the least of our worries.

The citizens of this weakening nation need a wake-up call. The problem lies beyond political affiliation, rekindled racial tensions, and hogwash presidential candidates. The heart of the matter is the human heart; otherwise known as the source of wickedness. We all seek personal appeasement and we all have a soap box on which to stand, but we have to look at the bigger picture. The choices we make and the policies we change don’t just impact us, they impact a diverse nation with a heritage and a future that is made up of individuals. Individuals that deserve an equal say, locally and in Washington.

Let’s Add “Agreement” To Our National Vocabulary.

One thing I think both the left, the right, and the middle can agree on is the declining state of our nation. Right now people are crying out for unity, but the barriers we’ve built up around us are stifling the fire of American patriotism. I believe, however, that the embers are still burning. We need to lay aside our picket signs and wanton of personal appeasement and fan the dying flames, so as to spark a unified positive change in America.

We can no longer fight among ourselves. Arise America. Arise and let us once again become "We The People" Of TheUnited States.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
