Although there are many more intricate layers to feminism now days, the general idea is that men and women are equal. Men and women should be given equal opportunities, but biologically, mentally, and physically — we just aren't.
Radical feminism has almost made it a crime to be a woman who has traditional ideas and values.
So, here are a few reason I didn't march, as a woman in the 21st century who believes that I'm not equal to men.
American women aren't really oppressed. Nor do we have unequal rights to men. You want to get a job, those opportunities are available. You want to better yourself in school, you are welcome in universities across the country. You want to vote, you can. You want to be involved in politics, you can. So many doors have been opened for women, why are we still focused on us right now.
Men and women should both have equal opportunity to do what makes them happy and successful. If a woman wants to wear a power suit, and run a company, let her. If a man wants to stay at home all day, and take care of his children, he should.
In America, it seems that hatred and "inequality" is fought with vulgarity. Instead of rising to the occasion of being equal, people lower themselves. In the women's march I saw countless photos of women barely dressed, holding vulgar signs, and wearing vagina hats (really, ya'll?).
How on earth do women expect to be taken seriously when they are parading in such an immature manner? I mean, vagina hats? Using the word p**** every other thought. I get it, our president said it. "Why should we sensor ourselves, when we have a big pig in office?" Maybe because you don't get points across by yelling obscenities.
Serious topics can't be discussed with immature actions. You got the attention, but was it the attention you wanted? If you want equal opportunities, (I am pretty sure) you have it. If you want more than that, then work for it. Prove that you are someone worth being given equal opportunity. There are a lot of women who do have it good. They have the things they want. Not because they painted signs and wore vagina hats, but because they worked their butts off to get there. They decided what they wanted, and worked for it.
All of this being said, men and women were not created equal. Whether you look at it from a religious perspective or not, they just are not equal. Women are everything that men aren't, and vice versa.
God created the different genders for different purposes. As a whole, women have come so far. If we were meant to be completely equal, we would have been made the same, and we were not. We have come far enough, to basically choose whatever we want in life. Other people around the world are not that lucky. They are still being sold, violated, and treated like objects.
The walk was almost selfish. Instead of taking all of those resources: money, power, and attention and putting it towards others less fortunate than us. It was wasted, for vagina hats, and fifteen minutes of fame.
Men and women were not created the same. We weren't meant to be the same, and we never will. Women were created to raise children, and make a home. Men were created to support their wife and family. Neither could do their job without the support of the other. Men and women think differently. They process things differently. That's just how it goes.
Respect is something earned. Respect is a privilege. Respect is like innocence. You have it, until you prove you don't deserve it. I personally lost a lot of respect for anyone who puts a vagina hat on their head because they don't believe they have the opportunities they deserve. Get over it. You can do just about anything in America, but there are some things you shouldn't.
