Thin scarves are a big trend I have been seeing them pop up everywhere, especially in Spring 2016 fashion. Like most scarves, there is not just one way to wear them, in fact there are several different techniques to use in order to suit your style.
You can purchase these scarves at stores like Zara, Nordstrom, and Free People. They come in different colors and textures. My personal favorite is the black velvet scarf.
1. The choker.
This is, by far, my favorite way to style these scarves and, in my opinion, the most unique. Depending on your choice of outfit this method can give off a '90 vibes.
You can achieve this look by simply wrapping the scarf around your neck, either once or twice, depending on how thick you want your choker to look. You, then, will move the long ends of the scarf to the back of your neck and tie the long ends off.
Most people leave the ends of the scarf hanging behind them. I, personally, do not like to do this because anyone can pull on it from behind. One method you can use is tucking them into your pants. Once the ends are tucked you can throw on a sweater or jacket to conceal. This is an edgier take on the skinny scarf.
2. The standard.
This is the most common method which people use to wear these particular type of scarves. Start off by putting the scarf around your neck, then wrap it around once. You can then adjust the long ends to make sure they are even and parallel to each other. This is a method in which most people feel more comfortable wearing because they are used to doing this with a regular knitted scarf as well. This method looks great with casual or formal outfits.
3. The tie.
This technique is a combination of the choker and the standard method. You will follow the same instructions for the standard method. Once you are at the step where you have the two ends of the scarf parallel and even to each other, you will then tie the ends together. Because the scarf is so thin, it gives off the look of a tie. This is definitely a great look when you are dressing more formal occasion, or if your work dress code is business casual.
As you can see, there are many ways to wear the skinny scarf. They are a great way to accessorize any outfit!
