With a portion of the summer already behind us, the excitement of it could be disappearing along with it. If you're like me, your summer mostly consists of sitting at your house, working, and trying to make plans with your always busy friends. One thing I have started to do in the last year is find new ways to bring out my inner arts and crafts guru. I'm no art major, but I still find joy in creating something.
nHere are some easy, fun, and relatively cheap ways to bring out your own inner artist.
1. Paint on canvas
This is one of my personal favorites. What could be easier than running to your local Michael's or other craft store and picking up a couple canvases and paint? You may think that this is impossible for you if you're not the most talented at drawing. But who cares? Do it for yourself, not to display on Instagram. Paint whatever you feel like painting and have fun with it. It's a stress reliever and a way to help yourself be more creative.
2. Tie dye
I am absolutely obsessed with tie dye. I have been tie dying my own shirts for years and I love doing it with friends. You can find tie dye kits or individually packaged dye at any craft stores. It's something fun to do and leaves you with an awesome shirt you can wear!
3. Pinterest
There's nothing better than searching the pages of Pinterest in search of that next DIY project you'll try. You can find anything from recipes to home decor.
4. Making old clothes new
I have loved high-waisted shorts for years, but since they can be so expensive at stores, I decided to do my own take on them. I went to my local GCF and tried on lots and lots of jeans until I found the perfect "mom jean." I took them home and cut them into my own pair of high waisted shorts for a fraction of the cost.
There are many more ways than just these to be creative this summer. I just can't think of anything better to do with a boring summer! Happy crafting!
