After a long semester, your only plan for Winter Break may be to sleep and do nothing. That works for a week or so, and then it can leave you a little restless. How can you make the most out of your precious weeks off from school?
1. Make a schedule.
Making a schedule is a sure way to do the most in a day and extend your break.
2. Make a plan.
Figure out ahead of time what you want to do this break and write it down. Maybe you want to make sure you visit a friend you haven’t seen in a while, workout and get back in shape, or throw a party.
3. Wake up before noon.
Have you ever noticed how much more you get done in a day when you wake up in the morning?
4. Cook.
Use this time to create a meal for yourself a world away from the food in the dining hall.
5. Limit your time on Netflix.
It may be tempting to just relax for the whole break after a long semester, but too much TV or movie time makes for an unproductive break.
6. Get a part-time job.
A lot of places need extra help for the holidays.
7. Research jobs or internships you’re interested in for the summer.
8. Exercise.
Maybe you forgot to exercise last semester, that's okay. Now is your chance!
9. Prepare for the next semester.
Make tweaks to your schedule, stock up on food and toiletries, and organize what you're going to take back with you to school.
10. Go outside.
It's hard to get outside in between classes and studying. Soak up as much Vitamin D as you can while you're on break.
11. Rest.
The point of a break is to get a break, right? Make sure you catch up on much-deserved sleep. Come back ready to dominate your second semester.
