Now that the semester is over, you might be asking yourself how you're gonna be filling the unnatural amounts of free time ahead. Letting yourself chill for the first few days of break is a necessity after the stress of finals week, but after you've recovered, what's next?

Here are five ways you can maintain the relaxation of the break, while still finding ways to be productive at home. You don't want to let the time - pass only to realize you've spent the past three weeks binge-watching Netflix shows. Take control of your time, and come back for the spring semester as the best version of yourself.

1. Develop a morning routine.

Stop the habit of messing up your sleep schedule over break by creating a morning routine you're excited about. Set your alarm to 10 am, make yourself a cup of coffee, and sit outside with a nice book. By creating a system you look forward to, you set the day for productivity.

2. Work on your resume.

This is something that every college student is in desperate need of, whether we'd like to think about it or not. This break is the perfect opportunity to work on your resume, without the consistent excuse of time. Think about what clubs you joined this semester, what volunteer work you did, and what new skills you developed from your classes. Take the time to research resume templates, and use resources like Canva to help you develop a kick-ass resume.

3. Apply for summer internships.

I know that summer seems like a lifetime away, but the sooner you apply the more likely you are to snag the perfect internship for you. Maybe slave work in exchange for experience isn't your thing - so start looking for summer jobs in the city of your choice.

Use your time off to research what companies are hiring, and whether or not you meet their requirements. Use all the resources you can to aid in your search. Look into your university's resources and sign up for websites like Glassdoor, Indeed, and even LinkedIn to help you find the job of your dreams.

4. Exercise.

There are no more excuses, like a lack of time because for the next 3 weeks you will have an influx. Incorporate a simple work-out into your morning routine in order to get every day off to a good start. Take a jog around your neighborhood, or download an exercise app like Best Abs, to make exercise easy.

5. Meditate.

It’s been a long semester - this is your time to unwind and spend some quality time with yourself. Focus on you, without the lingering stress of school. You don’t need to literally meditate on a yoga matt and with a Namaste, but find a comfortable place in your mind where you can simply relax. Try taking a few minutes a day to clear your mind of all thought, and focus on your breathing. This is proved to help your mental health, and lets you appreciate your life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
