With no school for Christmas break and no stress from sleepless nights, I thought I’d start explaining ways I “detox” from stress when I can. I have ALWAYS had stress (it started in 2nd grade and never disappeared). So trust me, I know my stress! I love having a nice break from school to really focus on myself and get my mindset for the upcoming semester. It is so so so important to spend time alone and focusing on yourself and your mental state.

While I am no expert, I do have some tips for relieving stress that have been SUPER useful for me, and hopefully, they will work for you too.

1. Oil diffuser.

If you aren’t using one of these yet, grab one! They are cheap on Amazon and the best. I have all kinds of different oils, but my favorite is the “stress relief” oil. I put this on and turn my tv off and really just relax. I usually fall asleep like a baby, FAST! They are great. I can not reiterate it enough.

2. Sweets!

This one is bad, but, hey, sometimes we all deserve to grab some sweets and indulge in some cookie dough ice cream. While I wouldn’t suggest you eat away your stress, I will say it helps. Your new diet can start in 2018 right?

3. PLAY WITH PUPPIES!

Enough said. My dog is my comfort and she occupies my mind so there is no stress what so ever. So I’m telling you, go to Pet Co., and start loving on the adoptable pups. Or even go to the dog park! Dogs are so so so therapeutic. It’s a proven fact!

4. Wine Night

For those really rough nights, grab a bottle of wine and turn on that trashy tv show that you never have time to watch during the semester. Laugh, sip wine, and watch the Real Housewives show you love. (Yes I know we all secretly love them deep down.)

5. Read Something You Enjoy

Read something fictional that is just a thriller or mystery. Focusing on a book is absolutely the most enjoyable! It’s nice to read about everyone else’s problems, not ours! I’m an avid reader and a firm believer that a good book heals the soul!

6. Last but most importantly, if you are having troubles and wanting to get some relief... turn to God.

Y’all. So many nights I can find myself on my knees beside my bed praying and asking God for direction and peace. God specifically asks us to cast our anxiety on Him. He will support and love, endlessly. That’s so perfect when you just feel like completely relieved because God already has plans made for your life and what you will be.

So guys, enjoy your break. Lie in comfort and be completely lazy. We have a short break, so make the very most of it. Spend time with loved ones, overeat, and hopefully play with some puppies! I promise these tips work. If all else fails, remember, bubble baths are the best thing ever.

Happy Christmas break y’all!!!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
