When Watching 'The Bachelorette,' Do You Ever Wonder...

Who JoJo ends up with isn't the only thing on my mind.

When Watching 'The Bachelorette,' Do You Ever Wonder...
US Weekly

Mondays are rough, but on the bright side, Mondays are the days when "The Bachelor/The Bachelorette" comes on. Therefore, Mondays are wonderful to me. Although I love the show and keep up with it weekly, there are still a few things I've never been able to figure out such as...

1. Why do they never eat the food?

I sit there watching these people talk during their dinner dates and the food goes by untouched. Like I’m serious, completely untouched. I literally check the plates in every shot (because let’s be honest, these episodes are cut up into little clips all edited together) thinking maybe over the course of the conversation you’d see the food slowly disappear. Well it doesn’t, and I don’t understand why not! That’s quality food right there and these are grown men! Their self-discipline to not just devour what's sitting right in front of them is incredible.

2. At what points do these people get interviewed throughout the course of the dates?

It's like each person has commentary of every single comment made throughout the night, so are they just expected to remember what everyone said and how they felt during each conversation? What happened to focusing on the love and feelings? Maybe they just carry around little notepads or type it into the notes on their phones…

3. Does JoJo/whoever the Bachelorette is have a chart to keep track of all of the men?

Let’s be honest, even I lose track of who she’s kissed, who has already confessed their love to her and who hasn’t, who has said that they’re “falling for her” already and who hasn’t and all of those other little details. Throw in all of the back-stories and conversations that all sound the same and it’s nearly impossible not to forget or get confused! If I were her I would have an ongoing file on each of them that I could add onto, or maybe one of those boards I could pin their pictures on and attach notes to like they do in crime shows.

4. Do they know when Chris Harrison is about to walk in/the date card is coming or is it really a surprise?

I find it strange when a bunch of men are all dressed and just sitting on the couches together sharing their thoughts and feelings. And then Chris Harrison walks in and “Oh! Hey! How are you!” comes up as if they didn’t know he had entered the room. Do they just say “sit here and be ready for Chris in the next 20 minutes” or is it more like “cue Chris Harrison walking in in 3, 2, 1?"

5. Does the Bachelorette use breath mints in between kissing all of these men?

There’s a lot of make out passion with that many attractive men in the house, and there’s no judgment about that. Passion is passion and that’s a key part in a relationship, so JoJo has every right to kiss her boyfriend(s) as much as she’d like. However, there are also drinks and appetizers at these cocktail parties (not that much of the food gets eaten as stated previously, but the drinks definitely are a favorite in the show). So, does the bachelorette pop in a little refreshment before smooching with her next beau? Maybe she slips out to refresh during her many interviews between talking with each of the men…

6. How does she remember all of the guys’ names for the first rose ceremony?

This has always baffled me. Maybe it’s because I’m terrible with names so it just seems impossible in my opinion, but how can one woman in just a few hours remember twenty names and be able to recite them all in the order that she preferences? I could be wrong, I’m sure it’s possible, but let’s be real here. They’ve got to have name tags or people holding up signs for her to read off of or something.

7. How awkward would it be to have a private concert?

In theory, it’s very romantic and “fairytale-like” to have a performance just for you and the potential man you’ll spend forever with, dancing underneath the stars with music in the background. But in reality, I would feel awkward. Do you sing along? Do you dance throughout the entire performance? Do you talk to the performers since it’s literally just two people in the crowd? So many questions, so many different scenarios for how it could go wrong...

8. Do the camera men sleep in the house with the other men?

Just in case something goes on at night, the camera men would have to be there to record it all, right? So do they take night shifts to see if anyone decides to have a deep conversation or sneak out to find JoJo/the bachelorette or get up in each others' faces?

9. Do the guys talk about their physical side of the relationship with each other?

They're all kissing the same girl, and they're all thinking the same thoughts... so do they share those thoughts with each other? Or is it some kind of bro-code to just keep it to themselves? If I were them I would feel awkward if I heard my physical relationship with my partner wasn't on the same level as someone else's, so I would hope that the physical aspect of things would be kept on the down low.

10. Is the "Chad" of the season told ahead of time that he is the designated drama-queen of the season?

Every single season there's that one person that brings all of the drama and tension into the house. Is that just good planning on the casting crew's part to find people who rub each other the wrong way? Or do you think these drama-queens of the seasons are told ahead of time (and possibly even paid??) that they will be the crazies of the show?

11. What would it be like if I went on "the Bachelor/Bachelorette"?

What would I do when I first got out of the limo/when I saw the men get out of the limo? How far would I make it on the show/which guys would be the first for me to send home? What would the show make me look like to the public? Would I actually be able to find love? How do I apply? If I'm alone for long enough, would my parents let me sign up? Don't deny that these are all things we've thought about before...

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
