You may have seen "Shrek: The Musical" while scrolling through Netflix. And for those of you who skipped over it or thought "I have seen the movie thousands of times I don't need to watch this" you are wrong. This musical is amazing and you have to watch it.

Here is a list with descriptions of my favorite songs from the musical along with a video of each one. Think of it as a teaser for when you finally see it yourself!

1. "Overture/Big Bright Beautiful World"

This song is sung to Shrek by his parents when he was a child as they kick him out of his home and send him out alone into the world. It is bright and cheery on the surface, but the lyrics are dark and funny.

2. "Story of My Life"

This song is sung by the fairytale character as they are transported to the swamp. It highlights all of the hardships that they had to face throughout their lives. The song is upbeat and catchy and will be stuck in your head for days (it was for me).

3. "I Know It's Today"

This song goes through the years that Princess Fiona was stuck in the tower. It showcases what she went through during her many days trapped and allows the audience to get to know her in a way that the movie doesn't allow for. This song is also catchy and funny, but also sad when you put it into perspective.

4. "Make A Move"

This is sung by Donkey during the scene when Shrek and Fiona are flirting with each other and eating swamp food. He is singing exactly what the audience screams at the screen anytime they watch the movie or musical. Because it's Donkey the song is obviously hilarious but also relatable.

5. "Build A Wall"

Shrek expresses his hurt over the perceived betrayal by Donkey and Fiona after he overheard their conversation the night before. The song is deep and perfectly shows his hurt and how he plans to fight back and protect himself in the future. While it is sad it also shows the strength that Shrek holds.

6. "Freak Flag"

This song is sung by the fairytale creatures after they are kicked out of the swamp. It is sung when they begin to accept themselves and the oddities that they possess. It is an empowering song for anyone who listens because everyone is different and those differences are what makes us all so special.

7. "This Is Our Story"

This song is at the very end of the musical and it talks about Shrek and Fiona accepting themselves and their love for each other. It is a song that showcases how true their love is. It also incorporates the other fairytale creatures and they sing about how they all fit together and that it's ok to be different and that they finally accepting that.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
