We are all taught to save up, which is obviously a good idea. But, what are we saving for? We don’t know what we will be doing in four years, we don’t even know what we will be doing the following week. So, let’s stop planning for every little thing that we might not even get to do.
If you ask me, I thoroughly enjoy spending my money on over-priced movie tickets, and yes, I’m going to get popcorn to accompany me. Was every pair of fancy pants girls have bought really a waste if they give them a little extra confidence, and they received endless compliments on them? Truth is, saying you wasted money on the gas you spent going to the beach doesn’t make all that much sense unless you had a miserable time at the beach. If you take a little spring break trip, those get expensive. But, if you want to go, go!
Opportunities fly by, and though you might have to turn down some here and there, it does not mean you should turn down all of them. You’ve heard it before — treat yo'self! I spend a lot of money on food, but hey, it keeps me living so I’d say it was a reasonable splurge. Sure if I had said no to my last 10 visits to Panera or El Diablo, I would’ve saved an extra $100. But, I’m going to continue to go out to eat. That’s what people do these days isn’t it? Lunch dates. I really don’t plan on ordering just a glass of water.
So LIVE A LITTLE! Go vacation with all your friends. The great memories you make with them will exceed what you spent on the trip! If there’s ever a time to “waste” money, it’s now before you actually have responsibilities to save up for. Bottom line, if it makes you happy it doesn’t seem like a waste to me!
