Here's Why You Matter

From me to you, I just want you to know.

Here's Why You Matter
Moore Perspective

Being a social media lover, I have many different accounts with different outlets—if you didn't know that already. Having these accounts, I've been able to connect with different people from all over the world and I've had the chance to talk to some of them. Others, I just reblog their posts on Tumblr, retweet them on Twitter, and so on. Since I first got these social media accounts and in 2011 and 2012, I've come to terms with a sad reality that is becoming more unnoticed by the second, in my opinion.

There's been a recurring thing being mentioned from a few people who will post things saying that they "don't matter." It kills me every time I read posts like that because I have a firm belief that everyone does matter. Everyone is on this planet for a reason. They are here to bring something to this world. They have a purpose. Reading that they "don't matter" makes me tear up because I want them to know how important they are and the impact they can make on people. I used to say stuff like that too: that I didn't matter because all that filled my mind was how I was more than likely disappointing my parents, my friends, and myself. I felt like I wasn't doing anything sufficient with my life, and that I wasn't benefitting anyone; I was just there to be there. A big thing was that I wasn't "my ideal weight" so to me I wasn't "ideal" for society. That's the one that hurt the most because I always thought of myself as the "fat friend." I didn't feel wanted.

Thankfully, I've overcome these feelings, and I've fought off the demons that used to consume my mind and I want to make sure that those out there who are dealing with similar issues are able to do the same. I had my loved ones around me to get through those tough parts of my life and I learned a lot about who I am, and to this day, I'm still learning about myself. We are all here for a reason and we all have a purpose to be here on this planet, and I have a small letter to those who don't feel like they're good enough; hopefully it can help in some way.

Hello sunshine,

You don't know me but that's okay. You don't have to know me to understand what I'm about to tell you.

I want you to know that I love you. Yes, I can love you even if I don't know you. I want you to know that you matter. I want you to know that you may become overwhelmed with life at some point, but I want you to know that's okay. It happens. I want you to know you're never alone. You will always have people around you who love you. I was once in a place like you. I didn't think anyone cared and I surely didn't think that I mattered to anyone because I wasn't perfect. I was never the skinniest, and I thought that made me ugly. Growing up, I learned to accept myself for who I am. I learned that I do matter and that people care. It took a while, but I got there with the help of everyone I've met over the last three years.

I want you to know that you can get through whatever is going on in your life. It may take a day, a week, a month, a year, or longer, but however long it takes for you to get through this, you will make it. With the support of the people who love you, you can get through anything. Just remember that you're an important soul, and you mean so much to so many. You matter, love. Trust me. I want you to know that.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
