After coming to the parks since I was a little girl, participating in two Disney College Programs, and spending a summer here fulfilling seasonal hours, you could say that I know Walt Disney World pretty well. Visiting the parks on my days off is no question, but I don’t normally spend the whole day there – just have to complete my must do’s. In my new top five Disney series, here are the top five things I have to do while spending some time in the Magic Kingdom.
1. Haunted Mansion
Fun fact: I used to be terrified of this attraction until halfway through my first DCP when I made friends with a few of the cast members there and also got to go on a backstage tour of the ride with my work location. Done laughing at me for being scared? Anyway, moving on. When I stopped being scared and started to look around during the journey, it’s a beautiful and wonderfully designed attraction. Make sure to look out for the Hidden Mickey in the ballroom scene!
2. Festival of Fantasy
Although the Celebrate a Dream Come True Parade will always have my heart, since it was the parade I saw everyday during my first DCP, Festival of Fantasy, or FOF as Cast Members and annual passholders refer to it as, is a breathtaking, joyful parade that has just about everyone’s favorite involved. From Belle and Beast to Minnie and Mickey, each float gets better than the one before it. Also make sure to keep an eye out for Maleficent; she knows best how to add some heat to a Florida day.
3. Casey’s Corner
If it’s up to me on deciding where to grab a meal, my usual pick is Casey’s Corner. Why? Three words: corn dog nuggets. These bite size pieces of magic paired with fries makes me the happiest. The outdoor seating for Casey’s (when available) comes with a perfect view of the castle and is also right across the street from the Main Street Bakery Starbucks. And if Casey’s is too busy, my next pick is Pinocchio’s Village Haus over in Fantasyland.
4. Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor
Do you enjoy air conditioning and corny jokes too? Well, then the Laugh Floor is just for people like us! Come see all of your favorite monsters, and Roz, and get ready to make funny with the haha! Also, keep your eye on the screens – you never know if you’ll get chosen to be part of the show!
5. Wishes
Now I may be biased because I work in this park, but Wishes is my favorite fireworks show at Walt Disney World, followed closely by EPCOT’s Illuminations. Capturing your heart in the first few minutes and narrated by Jiminy Cricket, this show is one of my favorite 12 minutes I spend at the parks.
