While the name of the cosmopolitan city of Meurthe-et-Moselle is well known, a foreigner has yet to discover the hidden beauty of its enchanting architecture and natural environment. There's more to Nancy than just buildings, statues and marble pavements. With it's friendly streets filled with countless stores and restaurants, the city can justify its fame with tourists. Here are some places to visit in Nancy, France. Its combination of metropolitan and rural areas will have you falling for it in no time.

1. Parc de la Pepiniere

By far most tourist's favorite spot, the Parc de la Pepiniere is an eco-friendly park where one can find a perfect scenery and environment to lounge on the benches while snacking on a crepe.

2. Place Stanislas

Nancy is well known for this square—Le Place Stanislas. Being the center of the city, it's the first sightseeing spot people visit before walking into one of the four of its gates. Each gate (one is shown above) leads to a different street.

3. Basilique Notre-dame-de-Loures

The Basilique Notre-dame-de Loures is similar, but not identical, to the castle from Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame. The statues of goblins on the roof of the castle were made in times of drought since the citizens of Nancy believed they would bring rain to the city.

4. Fontaine Wallace

The Fontaine Wallace can be spotted all over France. This small but meaningful piece of history has always been a popular tourist spot in France. Fresh water from the ground slowly trickles from the top into a small bowl.

5. Centre Commercial Saint Sébastien (C.C.S.S)

The mall of Saint Sebastien is well known in Nancy for its various amount of confectionary and beauty stores. This is the perfect place to shop for France's most famous treats and souvenirs.

6. Musée des beaux-arts

Filled with both modern and traditional art, this museum's variety in art pieces shows the different art styles of Europe. The photo shown above is Yayoi Kusama's Fireflies on Water—the small room walled with mirrors with lights hanging from the ceiling leaves people in a trance once they leave the room.

Nancy is one of the greatest places to visit in France and must be taken into consideration for a visit. This city is rich in history and culture with its ancient buildings and gates, and will not fail to amaze its visitors.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
