Do you know that feeling you get when you're on a rollercoaster, about to go down the first big hill? To me, this is a glorified version of what love feels like when you're with the right person.
We all have a history of having been with jerks. You know, the guy who doesn't even bother to get to know you, the girl who makes you pay for everything, the ones who pressure you and don't think about anyone but themselves. None of us are strangers to this kind of toxic relationship, and it's actually kind of sad what we put ourselves through, sometimes. Everyone deserves to be truly happy with their life partner.
What you need to do is wait for someone who kisses your forehead. In the age of one-night stands and hookups, it's refreshing to be in or to see a relationship that doesn't revolve around sex or money. Everyone is in such a rush to find that special someone that they settle for less than they deserve. The question is, what do you deserve?
You deserve someone who listens to you, who truly listens and retains. Someone who makes you a priority. Maybe not number one priority, but hopefully somewhere above their video games or their cell phone. On that note, you deserve someone who can carry a conversation with you without a phone in hand. Someone who makes the effort to really know you, what you like and what your dreams are. You deserve someone who supports you all the way, but keeps you grounded. You deserve someone who desperately wants to show you off to their friends and family. You deserve someone who goes out of their way and does something crazy just so that they can see you smile. You deserve someone who makes you feel protected and who is protective of you.
Wait for the one who calls you beautiful or handsome instead of hot or sexy. Wait for the one who knows your dreams and wants to help you realize them. Wait for the one who knows your strengths and weaknesses. Wait for the one who looks into your eyes as if they're looking into your soul. Wait for the one who you can just sit around with and watch movies all day, but also who you can go out on the town with. Wait for the one who you can tell anything to and who you can goof off with. Wait for the one who is worthy to take the title of your best friend. Specifically, wait for someone who kisses your forehead.
Don't get sick of waiting. You could get lucky and find Mr./Miss Right, or you could realize that you've made a horrible decision. Play it safe and wait it out. You never know, right around the corner could be someone you never knew you needed.
