Vote, Vote, Vote!

An opinion piece about voting this year--and why you should definitely go vote!

Disclaimer: I try to remain unbiased. I really do. But this voting season, I can't afford to stay silent and be "neutral". So, here's my attempt to pump up people to vote. And, also, my last-ditch plea against a Trump Presidency. This is obviously an opinion piece, so you are free to disagree. I respect your voting decisions, no matter what.

All right, everyone. It's that time of year again.

Or, in this case, more like "every four years". You know what I'm talking about: Election time! And while I would normally try and stay neutral, this election, there's far too much at stake. Make sure you vote, for the love of all that's good (I wrote an article about that, by the way!), and when you do, remember that as you cast your ballot, there's a lot on the line.

For starters, we have two candidates who aren't exactly ideal in the views of many Americans. But, let's be honest. Hillary may not appear as honest, but is dealing with more sexual harassment than any human being should have to endure, and also is being attacked just for being a woman. I can't stand for that kind of nonsense. Her opponent regularly gaslights her, even going so far as to do so during televised debates.

Meanwhile, we have Mr. White Privilege I mean, Trump. Please know. The only reason I'm being glib right now is because laughter is how I cope with the pain of knowing that people actually support this man. This man who doesn't even answer questions and goes off of "how great things are, I know this person who's really great, he's the best, I know it."

I really shouldn't have to explain to you all why he is kind of awful, but in case I do: HE'S AN AWFUL CANDIDATE, YOU GUYS.

He brags about assaulting women. Gaslights regularly. Uses racist, homophobic rhetoric, and is supported by the alt-right and the KKK. See anything wrong with that? Because he doesn't. Those are not endorsements a presidential candidate should have. A candidate shouldn't blame minorities for minority poverty, or try and "grab women by the p***y". He is immensely hypocritical, and even calls his daughter "a hot piece of a$$".

Yeah. Uh, no. I'm putting my foot down.

Is Hillary perfect? Of course not. She's sketchy as heck in some ways, and shifts her political views as she sees fit. There's also the whole "dead interns" thing from the 1990s. But, the thing is, she's the most qualified woman--nay, person--in the presidential race.

If you wanna vote Trump, then so be it. I'm not gonna guilt trip you or stop you, even if he would. But the thing is, know that when you vote Trump, you support radical racism, xenophobia, islamophobia, homophobia, and a slew of other unsavory things that you really shouldn't be supporting in 2016.

Please, for the love of all that is good, go and vote. And when you do, know that you have the power to either revolutionize our nation with our first woman president, or set the nation back 50 years with the power of ignorance and hate.

Good luck, America. Happy Election Day.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
