Even the #1 ranked school in the country for dining has a hierarchy of greatness.

Virginia Tech Dining Halls Ranked

When going to the school with the #1 ranked dining in the country, you have high expectations for your meals. Luckily, these places meet those expectations.

1. Turner Place

Turner is by far the best place to eat. The only bad part about it is that it's located on the academic side of campus, so if you live on campus, it's only really convenient to go during the day in between classes. 1872 Fire Grill, Qdoba, Jamba Juice, pizza, bagels, hibachi, crepes, and more. We love Turner.

2. DX Express

Okay, so DX doesn't have the best quality food.. but it's open til 2 am so obviously we all love DX. There's lots of variety from french toast sticks to sushi to pizza to burgers. It's the best (and only) place to go when you get back from a party at 1:30 and need a snack.

3. West End Market

This place also has everything . JP's, the best but also the most expensive, has the best steaks, lobster, and Sunday brunch. Also there's wraps, pasta, salads, a cute little sports bar (minus the alcohol, of course), and so much more.

4. Owens

Owens is the easiest and usually the quickest place to go. Mexican, subs, salads, Chinese, smoothies, a deli, pasta, dessert, and more. It's definitely good, but they don't have steak.

5. Hokie Grill

We love Hokie Grill, it's just so small. However, it's got some of the essential places: Chick fil A, Pizza Hut, Dunkin' Donuts, and Blue Ridge Barbeque. Also, a salad bar (woohoo!).

6. D2

Honestly, from Hokie Grill to D2, there's a big gap. D2 isn't bad, because of course VT has the best dining in all of the lands.. but D2 always get shitted on because it's buffet style. Also, you can't bring your own water bottles?? Whatever. It's still good, but VT 110% has better. When you ate D2 at orientation and thought that was good, you were in for a treat when you found out there were a million other places to eat.

Let's not forget, we're also blessed with Burger 37, ABP, and other random restaurants within walking distance to campus.

Shoutout to VT Dining.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
