5 Bible Verses For College Students
Allie Daniel

It is hard to be a Christian in college. You are so busy, so anxious, and easily tempted. However, God can provide comfort and encouragement in some of your most stressful days. Here are a few of my favorite Bible verses for college students.

1. Romans 12:2 "Do not conform to this age but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and pleasing and perfect".

This verse is my absolute favorite because it always brings be back to reality. We are reminded that we do not belong to this world, but, rather, we belong to our Creator. Don't let worldly things like social media, popularity, and excessive drinking consume you. Don't change your values and ways of thinking just because someone tells you that you are wrong or cuts you down for thinking and acting the way you do. Set your sights above, and don't stray from His Word, but let Him transform your mind and heart so you can glorify Him in all you do, even when the world is against you.

2. Luke 11:9 "And I tell you, ask and you will receive; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you."

In this verse, Jesus tells us that if we seek Him, we will find Him. The more we seek God, the closer to Him we become. In college, it is common to have anxiety about everything, especially when we wonder what the future will hold. When we "knock" by asking for guidance and discernment, God will open the doors that need opened. His way of answering prayers may not be what we expect, but contrary to our thoughts that He is not listening, He is ALWAYS working in our lives- through family, friends, and sometimes even the most unexpected people.

3. Philipians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

In this verse, we are reminded that Christ is always with us, and we don't have to face any challenge without His help. This verse is one that I love to pray before I go into a test that I have been stressing over for endless hours. When you go into a test, know that God will be there with you. You are NEVER alone. God will give you the strength you need to make it through the difficulties you are facing. When you are overwhelmed, give your worries to God, and He will take care of you.

4. Proverbs 13:20 "Walk with the wise and you become wise, but the companion of fools fares badly."

This is an especially important verse to remember in college. You get to choose the kinds of people you surround yourself with here. You will be tempted. There will be temptations to drink excessively, to try drugs, to not focus on your schoolwork, to try to win the popularity contest. Satan is sneaky and deceitful; he is always looking for ways to take our time and focus away from God. Find friends you can spend time in prayer and service with. I have been blessed to be able to attend a Christian Bible Study and Mass on a regular basis at my Catholic school; I have made some of my best friends through worship opportunities, and I share a deep bond with them that is rooted in Christ, and for that I am truly thankful.

5. Psalm 46:10 "Be still and know that I am God."

College can be extremely overwhelming. Your time is so valuable in college, and it is hard to find time for yourself sometimes. This verse reminds us to take a moment to just feel the presence of God. One of my favorite things to do when I need a break from the hectic college life is to spend time in nature, whether it be on campus, at the river, or on a hiking trail. It is in those moments that I love to pray this verse. It is amazing how calming this verse can be in the most stressful of times. God has a plan. You WILL be okay. Be still, and trust that God will lead you to where you need to be.

With all that being said, study hard, stay close to your faith, and have a blessed school year! Remember, God is with you through it all. You are never alone.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
