A Valentine's Day Letter To My Girl Best Friends

Dear Soul Sistas,

Happy Valentine’s Day! I hope you all feel loved each and every day! I am honored to call you my best friends and I won’t want to spend my college years without you! You make me laugh till I cry and support me when I'm stressed. I am very grateful to have met such friends like yourselves freshman year of college.

I’m writing you this letter because I know some of you are sad about being single on Valentine’s Day. But, guess what? I am too, so we’ll get through this together! Valentine’s Day has always been one of my favorite holidays and I think with girlfriends like you guys it can only get better. I think of it as a day to show everyone you love that you appreciate them a little bit more than usual. Whether it’s your mom, friend, sister, or boyfriend tell them that you love having them in your life today.

You don’t need a boyfriend to feel confident and like you are loved. So this Valentine’s Day we’re having a girls night! Wahoo! Chick flicks will be playing, pizza will be eaten, and wine bottles will be popping. Use girls need to stick together. Remind each other how great we all are and how we deserve the best guys out there. Not just someone to spend this romantic holiday with. We deserve guys that will show they love us every day of the year. And relax, that day will come. We will all fall in love and have our hearts broken one day. When that happens we’ll have another girls night for the hell of it.

We are all going to find our person one day, but until then let's all be happy that we’re single. Being single is actually really fun. Especially, while we are in college. You meet someone new every other day and you can flirt with whomever you want. Parties would definitely be very different if we all had boyfriends by our sides the whole time.

This is the time of our lives to discover who we are and what we like. Have as much fun as you can while you’re single. Plus, when else are you ever going to live so close to all of your best friends? Probably, never again. So, live it up!

Throw on some music, slap that mud mask on and let your hair down! Love everything about your life right now. The right guy will make his entrance when the time is right. But, until then have fun with your best friends. We’re only this young once. Don’t spend it stressing over boys that don’t give you the time of day. You’re loved more than that already.

Thanks for being my soul sistas and bringing so much joy to my life every day! Love ya babes!

Happy Galentine’s Day!

From,

Your Soul Sista

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

The best superpower ever? Being invisible of course. Imagine just being able to go from seen to unseen on a dime. Who wouldn't want to have the opportunity to be invisible? Superman and Batman have nothing on being invisible with their superhero abilities. Here are some things that you could do while being invisible, because being invisible can benefit your social life too.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
