11 Valentine's Day Gift Ideas For Your Not-So-Serious Valentine

No, I don't want my boyfriend of three weeks to think we're getting married.

Even though pink and red have been flooding the department stores since Christmas, Valentine's Day is finally almost here. When you've been with your bae for awhile, Valentine's Day is no big deal. Rush to the crowded malls and pick out the over-priced, 6-foot-tall teddy bear of her dreams. It's really easy to pick out the perfect pair of Jays that he's been drooling over since he saw them during Christmas break.

But what about those who just started a new relationship? Or we who haven't hit the "relationship" title yet, but still want to get our special someone a little something? Maybe it's not quite worth the time and effort put into purchasing $150 tennis shoes for a relationship that you're not sure will last into next week (don't worry, Boo, I'm sure it'll last).

Here is a list of 11 Valentine's Day gifts that say "I'm thinking about you," without saying "can't wait until we get married next week."

1. Their favorite candy

First of all, it's a classic. You can never go wrong with something a little sweet. But also, what's sweeter than giving someone a gift that proves you listen when they talk?

Buy it on Amazon.

2. A funny card

With Amazon, you can find a card for almost every occasion, including a Tinder Valentine. Welcome to 2019.

Buy it on Amazon.

3. An article of clothing

Who doesn't like getting new clothes? Especially when it is something that will remind them of you every time they wear it. Don't know the size? Go with accessories (like hats) that have an adjustable or one-size-fits-all size.

Buy it on Amazon.

4. A gift card to a local restaurant

This way, you both get dinner and to spend more time with each other. It's a win-win right?

Buy it on Amazon.

5. A movie neither of you have seen

Whether it's old or new, give Netflix a break and old-school it with a DVD player. The two of you might have just found your new favorite movie.

Buy it on Amazon.

6. A book

Is your partner into reading? Do they have a favorite author? Show them that you support their habits (the healthy ones, anyway).

Buy it on Amazon.

7. Booze

If you and your sweetheart are of age, pick out booze that you think they'd like: maybe their favorite bottle of vodka, or a new brand of wine you haven't tried before. Have your own at-home wine tasting. Make a night of it.

8. A homemade scratch-off ticket

Like a revamped version of a coupon booklet, this DIY project allows your SO to cash in their ticket for special favors. This is perfect for someone who likes to play the lottery. Have fun with it (and make it as G or PG-13 as you'd like). Instructions can be found here.

9. Bake them cookies or brownies or a cake

It's simple, easy, and quick. They'll love it. Plus it's going to be something they will actually use—meaning eat. Bake it into a heart shape or smear pink frosting over the top to make it extra Valentines-y.

Buy baking mix on Amazon.

10. A new CD

Remember when CDs were a thing? Let's bring it back this Valentine's Day. Pick one up at the store, or maybe even make your own. They'll love to know that certain songs make you think of them. Mixed CDs—now that's a throw-back.

Buy it on Amazon.

11. Glassware

Mugs, teacups, pint glasses, shot glasses—there's so many different kinds out there. And everyone could use another glass. That's another drink they can have before they're forced to do dishes. Don't make your Boo Thang do the dishes.

Buy it on Amazon.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
