Meet the Animals

UZOO is an up-and-coming super hip hop group that began in Hartford, Connecticut back in December 2015. Reminiscent of The Pharcyde, MF Doom, and A$AP Rocky, UZOO captures the feeling of 90s hip hop with a taste of modern rap.

But who exactly is UZOO?

UZOO is actually made up of a couple of subgroups who already have had a successful following in the local scene: AQMNI (CrissB.Amazing & Ty-Hookz), Clas!ck (Murf & Rudy), Funk Gero (Sloth & Jaden Castro), Jobo (BearGod), Wrex Mason (Q. Arafat), Detelj, Qusharia Perry, Cre808 and Joey Batts. With one mixtape out and four singles with their own complementary music videos, UZOO has been picking up momentum since they dropped their first single "Attack" on July 7th, which currently has just over 30,000 views. The beauty of UZOO is the fact that it's a 14 person group, many of whom have full time jobs as well. I bring this up because a common misconception placed on working musicians is that creating music is all fun and games. It's not. This group has 14 different availabilities to work with, and that also means they all need to agree with everything that the group produces as well as coming up with tour dates. On top of the amazing music UZOO pumps out, many members of the group contribute to their success by directing the music videos, the photography, DJ-ing, producing, and creating merchandise. Although UZOO can't always be fun and games, I can attest to their shows having a friendly vibe, and I may have played a game or two of spades on the VIP balcony.
