UW Cribs: Gamma Phi Beta

I'm sure we all know the sororities on campus and know girls in different chapters. But do we really know what goes on behind the walls of each of these sorority mansions? Here is a chance for a sneak peak at the behind the scenes of the Gamma Phi Beta house. Like everyone, these girls love to just goof off and have a good time. There is uniqueness to each and every girl in this house and I would like to share some of that with you all. I sent out a survey to the women of Gamma Phi and these are their answers.

Let me take you on a ride to the crescent moon and back

1. What is the funniest memory of living in the house?

"Crazy and silly things happen in sorority houses all the time. At Gamma Phi Beta, the funniest story to have happened in the house this year is the Quad room having one of their bunk crash down…while the girl was sleeping on the bottom bunk! On top of that, she already had a broken arm."

“The bed essentially fell on her face. #RoomA #NeverForget"

2.What question do you hate being asked the most about being in a sorority?

How do you live with so many girls?

The same way that people would live without so many girls

Don’t girls fight all the time? Isn’t there drama?

It’s nothing personal. Just drama.

What is your sorority known for?

It's just a reputation. Things change.

OMG like what’s your hand sign?

I honestly mess it up every time...so please don’t ask me to demonstrate

3. Most Likely...

To Be famous:

Maddie Floodstrand, Claudia Shapiro and Brianna Lome

Travel the world:

Lauren Bren, Eleni Haramaras and Britanny Gallagher

Come back for every game day as an alumni:

Kate Brennan, Deidre O’Donoghue and Nicole Sarquis

Buy drinks for every Gamma Phi that they see at those game days:

Bailey Gunderson, Michelle Jamar, Cassidi Goll and Claire O’Sullivan

Start a snowball fight on Bascom Hill:

Jess Bossmann, Kirstey Lein and Lauren Dahl

Wear a Gamma Phi shirt everywhere they went if it were socially acceptable:

Erlanda Pociute

Get a crescent tattoo:

Chelsea Boyle, Madeline Guilfoil, Annie Thul and Tori Miller

Be found at QDoba at 2 am:

Gabby Silva, Malia Elmeer, Lexi Worthy and Jessica Mills

4. If Gamma Phi had a slogan, what would it be?

“Wed Dem Girls” “Out-drinking Your Dad Since 1874".

5. If Gamma Phi were a drink, what would it be?

"That’s easy. The Pink Drink."

6. If Gamma Phi were a Buzzfeed Page, what would it be?

“27 Times That You Just COULD NOT Make This Stuff Up”

7. Who is Gamma Phi’s Celebrity Cutie?

"The one and only, Harry Styles"

8. Sum up Gamma Phi in 5 or less words

“sickest group of girls around”

“home away from home”

“down to darty”

and last but not least, the ever popular recruitment rec line “super cute, super fun”

9. What would happen at the house without Netflix?

If Netflix was no longer available the girls of Gamma Phi would… “shrivel up”. “cease to exist”

“I don’t know because we are always watching TV (cough, cough, Madison and her One Tree Hill) and the honest truth… “probably get the sleep that is much needed”

10. On a scale from 1-100, what would you rate your experience as a Gamma Phi Beta?

It’s one thing to join a sorority for the parties and reputations and it’s another to join and find your new self within this new group of girls who are there to help you succeed. Gamma Phi Beta has done this for us and truly has had a 100% impact on our lives."

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
