Imagine if The Chainsmokers came to your school to perform just for you and all of your fellow peers. Actually, don't imagine it... because it already happened.
Tilt, a free app that allows groups to easily collect money in one safe place, teamed up with The Chainsmokers to create a completely fan-based tour for the first time ever. Tilt hosted a contest in which every city had the opportunity to buy tickets and the first school to pre-sell 800 tickets got a concert.
The first six schools that ended up winning the Tilt Tour were UConn, UCSB, UC Davis, Cal Poly, Notre Dame and my very own school, UT Austin. Taking place at Emo's Austin, hundreds of college students lined up in front of the venue, getting ready for the time of their lives. As we waited for The Chainsmokers to come on, you could feel the unconfined energy coming from each person next to you. Finally, they came on. And everyone's hearts were beating to the tempo of the song. Singing at the top of our lungs, jumping as high as our bodies would let us, it felt like our whole community had finally come together in this one moment.
As if this night hadn't already been spectacular enough, The Chainsmokers decided to make their way to Kappa Sig, one of the fraternity houses, and perform for the second time that night. Talk about the greatest after-party ever. Everybody made their way over there until it reached its capacity and danced the night away. Oh, and they got to meet members of The Chainsmokers...and obviously, get selfies.
Moral of the story: That night was epic. And UT Austin loves The Chainsmokers. And #TiltTours should definitely continue to be a thing!
