I Used To Like Rainbows

Even the sign of the rainbow has been vandalized to be a symbol of sin.

Today in the United States it has become increasingly normal and even celebrated to be gay, lesbian, or transsexual. It is near impossible to go on social media without hearing something about the LGBT "community".

As a Christian, I have always been hesitant about giving an opinion about the rise in our society's norms. It has been increasingly more difficult to say same sex relations is a sin, especially with the media encouraging it so much. However, whether it is celebrated or fought against, whether it's popular or not- it is a sin.

There. I said it. Same sex marriage/ relations is a sin against God. I am sorry if I offended you, but it's the truth. We live in this world where sinful behaviors are encouraged and promoted. Here's a news flash: just because it's popular doesn't mean it's acceptable.

In elementary school, I remember seeing a picture of a man holding a rainbow flag. It caught my attention because, let's face it, rainbows are awesome. But then I realized the rainbow had become a symbol for the LGBT's.

Rainbows are supposed to be a sign of God's faithfulness. A sign of His love for us and the protection of the world from a flood. But the rainbow has been vandalized. It is now a symbol of how fun and normal sin is.

How sad it is that such a beautiful and innocent thing like a rainbow has become a representative for such a messed up sin.

As a Christian, I am disgusted. As a millennial I am embarrassed. I'm embarrassed that my generation would be the forerunners in endorsing same sex relations, instead of being the ones that spark a revival of holy living.

Some may say, "there's nothing you can do, because these are the times we live in". Allow me to object. I am not on this planet to sit around quietly and let the world fall into sin. I'm gonna make a difference. I'm going to live a godly life, even if people mock me, call me names, and criticize my choice. Even if it isn't the popular way, I CHOOSE JESUS.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
