You have spent four years of your life at a college that you called home with strangers that became friends and friends that became family and now its over.
Just like a camera flash and its gone with just the photos and memories left behind. It is a sad and inevitable moment when you realize that you will be leaving your best friends and your college that became home. All the feelings kicked in a about a month before graduation. Attending your last classes, athletic games, club meetings, and outings with your friends. Although, you were ready to find out what the future held you were reluctant to leave. A huge reason why being your best friends that you will no longer see every day. They won't be around when you are bored and want to do something, or be right there when you have exciting news or gossip, or when you just need a hug and someone to listen at 3 a.m. It's heartbreaking to think these moments are over, but that doesn't mean our friendships are.
We have made life long bonds and a little distance has nothing on us; so what if we have to do a little planning now!
1. We Don't Live Together Anymore.
We may not live together and may be states apart, but it doesn't matter. We just have to do a little more planning when we want to see each other, well a lot more being that we you used to just roll out of bed and walk to the room over. It's a strange feeling not getting to see each other every day like we used too. It still feels so surreal like we'll just see each other back at school in the fall, but then it sinks in that, that's not happening for us.
2. Now We Have A Place To Stay When We Visit Each Other.
On the bright side of things we can make excuses for road trips! We can pick each other up along the way and make visits to each others homes. Or if we ever need to go to one of the states that your college best friends live in for any reason I'm sure they'll have a couch ready for you before you even make the call.
3. You'll See Each Other For Grad Parties.
This is like a tease. You'll plan it all out and get to visit each other not to long after you graduate, but then a void will form and it will feel like it's going to be forever until you see one another again. This is cause of many tears and many hugs.
4. Planning Your Next Reunion.
This is a reunion you won't want to miss! Planning a little vacation or get away is perfect for the next time you guys get to see each other. Unfortunately, without a plan now it will be nearly impossible to get together being that everyone is all over the place. Like my friends being spread between New York, Massachusetts, Florida, and Vermont. It most likely can't just be a spur of the moment decision.
5. Can't Just Walk To The Room Next To Yours For Advice Anymore.
This is a hard moment to comprehend. We can no longer just walk upstairs or to the room next store for some good advice, gossip, or just to hangout. Whether it was 3 in the afternoon or 3 in the morning our doors were always opened for each other. Now we have to text and call hoping that we will answer right away. This can be hard since we all have different schedules and plans through out the summer. This can lead to some major phone tag.
6. Once You Leave You Realize How Truly Amazing Your Best Friends Are.
Now being without my best friends I have truly come to the realization of how amazing each one of them really is. I will miss each one of them, but this is not a goodbye because we have things called phones and we will make plans. We may have ended one chapter of our lives together, but there is still more amazing memories to come in the future.
P.S. Don't take any moments for granted!
